The East Bank Demerara Regional Hospital, West Demerara and Berbice Hospitals
were the recipients of a wide variety of medical items from the non-governmental organization Food for the Poor (Guyana) Incorporated (FFP) recently.
Gloves, gowns, liquid soap, linen, pillow cases and other assorted medical and surgical items were some of the items distributed to the three hospitals at FFP’s office in North Ruimveldt.
Medical Superintendent of the East Bank Demerara Regional Hospital, Dr. Michael Pereira, thanked FFP for assisting the hospital with the medical supplies.
He said, “I can assure you that they will be used in our facility to help the staff to function to their full capacity.”
He added that the items will contribute to proper patient care and better management of the institution.
Mr. Kent Vincent, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FFP, said that FFP will continue to support the Health Sector in whatever way possible. “This is the work we do. We are concerned about the health of the nation and whenever we acquire items that can assist in promoting health in the various regions we make all efforts to ensure that the items are channeled in those directions.”
