The Jaguar that was captured by a resident of Mainstay early Friday morning has been
transported to the Zoological Park in Georgetown by members of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Residents said immediately after learning of the capture of the dangerous animal, officials of EPA ventured into Mainstay to make preparations for his safe removal.
The jaguar was captured after a trap was set by Chris Allen. The Mainstay resident constructed the trap then lured a dog into the wooden trap. The jaguar entered the trap in an attempt to attack the dog which happens to be the animal the jaguar loves most.
Residents are relieved at the capture but they are saying that there are still more jaguars left.
Jaguars have been feasting on residents dogs and other domesticated animals for a long period in the Mainstay/Wyakah and Red Lock areas. (Yannason Duncan)
