Safraz Esau slammed an unbeaten 82 to guide Independence SC to a seven-wicket victory over Christ Ambassadors when the West Demerara Cricket Association President’s Cup T20 tournament continued recently.
Batting first at La Grange, Christ Ambassadors managed 118-8 with Mark George scoring 30 and Kevin Paul 22 not out. Ameer Ayube snared 4-17. Esau then struck six fours and a similar number of sixes as Independence SC replied with 119-3 in 13.2 overs. Paul took 2-32.
At Windsor Forest, Cultural CC overcame Cornelia Ida by five wickets. Cornelia Ida took first strike and scored 129 all out in 16.4 overs. Naveed Ali slammed 79 and Chanderpaul Persaud 22. Seecharran Persaud captured 4-23 and Anthony Ifill 3-14. Cultural CC responded with 133-5 in 16.5 overs. Persaud made 29 and Ifill 22. Askhaya Persaud took 2-14.
At Canal Number Two, the home team defeated Belle Vue by 51 runs. The host took first turn at the crease and posted 149-9. Chabiraj Ramcharran led with 44 and Seenarine Mathura 27. Dyal Rajpat bagged 5-20. Belle Vue were bowled out for 98 in 15.2 overs. Kenton Bennet got 18; Chein Gittens picked up 3-13 and Parmanand Raghunath 2-12.
