Two persons are in custody as investigation continues in the robbery of businessman Shamshadeen Khan, called “Zall”, 43, of Lot 23 No. 3 Settlement Blairmont, West Bank Berbice which occurred on Sunday at his home.
The man who lives in a two-storey building along with his wife Yasmin Khan and children, was robbed around 19:50 hrs on Sunday by four unmasked men.
The couple lives in a two-storey concrete and wooden house with a grocery shop and a kitchen below.
According to information, the couple was at home about to close up for the day when two masked bandits armed with a handgun confronted the pair. They stuck up Zall and ordered his wife and children to stand in a corner. Two other bandits subsequently joined the first two. The thieves, after threatening the family, ran into the house and went into the upper flat where they ransacked the premises.
Yasmin was subsequently relieved of her wedding and her other finger rings which she was wearing. The bandits subsequently broke a drawer and removed $400,000 in cash, three gold chains, gold finger rings and gold earrings.
The bandits quickly exited the house and made good their escape by jumping over the front fence. An alarm was raised and neighbours went to the assistance of the distressed businessman and his family.
The police were also contacted and arrived quickly. After conducting investigation two persons were arrested and placed into custody. Investigations are continuing.
