A Detective Constable attached to the Brickdam Police Station was on Tuesday released on $400,000
bail on a charge of fraudulent conversion when he appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly in the Providence Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that between June and September 2015 at Timehri, East Bank Demerara, Shawn Critchlow, 25, fraudulently converted a motorcar valued at $2.2M that was solely entrusted to him to his own use and benefit. The vehicle is the property of Quintin Shury.
Critchlow, who had no legal representation pleaded not guilty to the charge and was instructed to return to court on February 22.
Police Inspector, Michael Grant presented the prosecution’s case.
According to court facts, the police officer rented the car from the complainant for three days and never returned it.
