The final of the fifth annual Banks Beer Cup Football tournament was held on January 1 at the Providence Stadium with Riddim Squad from the East Bank beating West Ruimveldt’s Western Tigers.
Yesterday the Beverage Company honoured their commitment to pay the teams their prize money at a simple presentation at the Banks DIH Sports Club at Thirst Park.
Banks Beer Brand executive Brian Choo Hen said while the trophies were handed out on the night of the final, yesterday the organizers fulfilled their promise of providing the prize money for the four teams who reached the semi-finals.
Lloyd Millington collected the $2Million championship prize, while Phillip Rowley received the runners-up prize of $1Million on behalf of Western Tigers.
Lennox Adams received the $500,000 third prize, while Santos’ Carl Paul collected $250,000 for their fourth place after being beaten in the third place play-off.
Also present yesterday Troy Peters (Banks DIH’s PRO), Rawle Nedd (Banks Beer Brand Manager –training), Jeoff Clemont (GT Beer Brand Manager) and Mortimer Stewart (Outdoors Manager).
