The Guyana Foundation is taking an active role in helping to make life easier for students
in Region One. On Monday, the group distributed seven barrels of stationery and school supplies to students in Moruca, Region One.
While this annual project was previously limited to students in the village of Santa Rosa, it has expanded this year to include students from St. Nicholas Primary School, in the village of Manawarin.
Managing Director of the Guyana Foundation, Anthony Autar, said, “Moruca is a very special community for our team, as it is the place where this Foundation conducted its very first project. We keep returning to this community because we have seen the positive impacts that our efforts have had there over the past years.”
“Our team was moved by the very warm welcome and appreciation shown by the recipients of these donations in Santa Rosa and Manawarin. We remain grateful to the team of hard-working donors in Canada, coordinated by Mr. Gary Wills, who work tirelessly to send these donations to Guyana every year to bring joy to so many students.”
“The Foundation would also like to thank the Toshao of Santa Rosa, Sherwin Abrams for assisting with getting several barrels and our team to Manawarin, the teachers of Santa Rosa Secondary and St. Nicholas Primary Schools, Whanita Phillips, James Deeges, volunteers of the Foundation, and the financial donors who made this distribution possible.
The Foundation remains committed to collaborating with donors around the world to bring urgently-needed supplies to students in various communities across Guyana.”
