Chase Academy led by Dwayne Dick’s mesmerising spell of bowling trounced Charlestown Secondary
by 10 wickets while Leguan, Annandale and Skeldon Line Path also recorded victories when the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) sponsored by Coco Cola and Rainforest Water along with Digicel continued yesterday.
At Everest, Chase Academy blew away Charlestown Secondary for 52 in 16.5 overs, batting first. Dwayne Dick bagged 6-8 off 6 overs. Chase Academy responded with 55 in 5.5 overs. Joshua Persaud struck 44 not out off 16 balls.
Over at Parika, Leguan Secondary eased past Parika Salem Secondary by seven wickets. Parika Salem could only muster 83 in 17 overs, taking first strike. Wazim Mohamed made 25; Junior Bezindre claimed 4-13, Mark Rankin had 3-17 and Malcolm Caesars 2-14.
In reply, Leguan Secondary got to their target in 14.1 overs while only losing 4 wickets in the process. Rankin got 27 not out; Wazim Mohamed had 3-19. At Enterprise, Annandale Secondary got the better of Hope Secondary by five wickets in their Inter-Zone clash.
Batting first, Hope were bowled out for 101 in 25.3 overs. Denzil Wilson made 22 not out as Tyrese Assanah bagged 4-21, Chandrapaul Ramraj 3-14 and Ayube Sammy 2-24. Annandale Secondary in reply finished on 102-5 in 18 overs. Saif Samaroo hit 24 and Mike Persaud 20; Gopaul Applesammy took 3-32.
At Skeldon Community Centre ground, Skeldon Line Path defeated Tagore Memorial by 41 runs. Batting first, Skeldon Line Path made 158 all out off 26.3 overs. Alex Burnette scored 24. Bowling for Tagore Memorial Secondary, Mukesh Shivpersaud had 4-44, Alex February 3-14 and Andy Rohoman 2-24.
Tagore Memorial were bowled out for 117 in 26 overs in response. Alex February made 46; Afseer Hussain snared 3-21 while Navin Chatterpaul took 3-27. The Competition continues today with Chase Academy oppose Annandale Secondary in a Georgetown-East Coast Demerara Inter-Zone clash at Everest.
In the Essequibo Zone, Leguan Secondary will play Wakenaam Zone winner, Essequibo Islands Secondary, at the Wakeenam Community Centre ground. The first match of the Combine Elite League Stage will be played between Mahaica and Mahaicony at Fairfield.
