Dear Editor,
As corruption by the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) continues to exposed, both by the media and the Government of the day, the people of this country are expecting to see charges being laid and justice handed out expeditiously. But equally important is the fact that the people are expecting that this Government is going to be cautious in ensuring that it does not make the same mistakes of its predecessor, least we draw the logical conclusion that we voted for a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
It is in this vein I wish to ask Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan and Minister with responsibility for the energy sector , David Patterson, why is Mahendra Sharma still in charge of the Guyana Energy Authority (GEA)? It was the APNU+AFC administration which spoke against the same person, noting countless times that he was incompetent and that there were a number of discrepancies taking place under his watch.
Even if you want to ignore the foregoing, could you explain to this nation why Mr. Sharma, who was on the PPP’s list of candidates, was allowed to continue in his position as GEA head?
Something certainly smells fishy here but I await the scholarly responses of our “Honourable’ leaders.
T.K Demas
