Dear Editor,
We would like to call on the Georgetown City Council and all politicos attached to it to desist from campaigning in the guise of “working” in the weeks that lead up the March 18th Local government elections. We have noticed that Mayor of Georgetown Hamilton Green and Deputy Mayor of Georgetown Patricia Chase Green have been more active after the May 15th National Elections than in any other time while holding these very posts. Mayor Green enlisted excuses such as the previous government restricting the council’s reach, claiming that by-laws could not be enforced and this stagnated the council’s work. But now, weeks before Local Government elections, the Mayor is doing city tours and market tours like never before. We call on the politicos at City Hall to desist from campaigning with the use of taxpayers’ resources and desist from interfering in the functions of other officials. It is incumbent upon the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to simply ensure that adequate funds are available for the food and market inspectorate, the City Engineer’s Department and the other departments within City Hall. We call on all political parties to denounce the sneaky political campaign currently being conducted in the municipality of Georgetown.
Ronson Gray
Campaign Manager,
Team Benschop For Mayor.
