Up to late last night, doctors at the Georgetown Hospital were battling to save the life of a Belizean national
Garfield Dennison
who was shot twice by a gunman in Cummingslodge, East Coast Demerara.
Garfield Dennison, 30, who is studying at the University of Guyana, was reportedly shot in the chest and left hand at about 21:30 hours just after he had dropped off his girlfriend, who is also a student of the university.
According to reports, Dennison was about to ride off when the gunman walked up to him and fired three shots, two of which hit him in the chest and hand.
He was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Hospital where he was immediately admitted.
Kaieteur News understands that Dennison’s condition is listed as critical.
Police say they received a call from an unknown person who informed that there was shooting in the Cummingslodge area. When they got to the scene, they were subsequently informed that the victim was already at the hospital. They ruled out robbery as a motive for the attack since nothing was taken from the injured man.
