The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC), Guyana’s leading youth and sports club has hailed
its reward of a ‘Medal of Service’ from the Government of Guyana as the best moment in its 25 year history.
The Government of Guyana on January1, 2016 announced that President David Granger has recognized the outstanding service of the club in the fields of sports, education and community development over the past 23 years.
The announcement was made during the launching ceremony for Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations. The RHTY&SC along with twelve other organisations/groups would receive the Medal of Service award as part of the nation’s 50th anniversary celebrations. The others include ACDA, ER Burrowes School of Art, Roadside Baptist Church and CIOG.
Club Secretary/CEO, Hilbert Foster described the announcement of the award as a special moment in the short history of an organization that was founded in 1990 by three-time Guyana and Commonwealth Youth Service Awardee, St. Francis Community Developers.
Foster who has served as Secretary/CEO of the club since 2000 stated that every member of the club especially the executive have been inspired by the award and have recommitted themselves to continue their efforts to make a positive difference in the lives of youths, the elderly and less fortunate.
RHTY&SC since its formation has successfully completed over 5000 programmes/activities and for its Silver Jubilee anniversary in 2015 completed a total of 302. The club is expressing gratitude to all of its official sponsors, donors and numerous supporters over the years who have supported its work.
