Over 65 expected to participate prize money increased
One new event has been added to the much anticipated, inaugural “Mohammed “Nankoo” Shariff Memorial one day horserace meet slated for this Sunday at the Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park West Coast Berbice.
The event organised by the RSTC is being held in collaboration with Banks DIH Limited, Inshan Bacchus Trucking Service and The Trophy Stall of Bourda Market. Other main sponsors on board are the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, Rising Sun Cattle Ranch, Habla Meat Centre and the Chester fried Chicken, Bush Lot West Coast Berbice.
The event, which will begin the 2016 racing season, will now be an eight event card with prize monies now reaching the $5M mark.
The new event added to the days programme will see horses classified D3 maiden and E winners competing in the 1100M even for a winning purse of $400,000 and trophy. Among those entered for that event are Precise Gold, Storm Bird, Storm Mark, Red and Lovely, Appealing Harvest and Big Man Boss among others.
The featured event remains the Shariff Memorial 1400M classic for animals classified D and lower for a first prize of $700,000 and trophy. Horses entered so far include Just call me Boss, Princess she not, Good Will Boy and Lady Budapest.
The other races are the E and lower 1400M event for a winning take of $500,000 and trophy.
The G class event has a winners money of $300,000 and trophy over 1400M.
There is an event for horses classified H2 and lower with the winner set to take home $220,000 and a trophy.
The horses classified J and lower will be racing for a winner’s cheque of $180,000 and trophy over 1100M.
The final two events are for animals classified J and Lower and K and lower respectively. The distances are 1100M and the winner will take home $150,000 and $100,000 dollars and trophies respectively.
Ramesh Sunich, Proprietor of Trophy Stall, will once again be providing awards for the top individual performers including the top jockey, trainer and stables.
The Race will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
