Christmas has been made brighter for 16 of Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GTT) customers who now have hundreds of thousands of dollars in reasons to smile.
But happiest among the lot is Clare Thomas, of Essequibo. The mother of three walked away with $1Million when the company held its final draw and presentation of its Crazy Cash for Christmas promotion at the GTT store at Fogarty’s Building.
Amid much hype and excitement which resulted in a total of $6.8M in cash being won, the event capped the telephone giants Christmas give back to its customers.
Thomas, 52, who functions as a ward orderly at the Suddie Hospital on the Essequibo Coast has been a customer with GTT for 14 years.
With glee she told this publication “Christmas was just going to be just ordinary but this win which is my first big win will ensure that I have a grand Christmas with lots of food and drinks.”
Additionally, she said, she plans to save some of the $1m and to use the rest to celebrate the season the way it is supposed to be celebrated.
She added, “This is proof that God answers prayers because I was praying a lot for a miracle to make my Christmas bright through something like this and he answered my prayers.”
Yesterday excitement was at its peak amidst much festive music and a crowded atmosphere and when the competitions and offers were over aside from Thomas several others also won hundreds of thousands of dollars.
That lot includes Orlando Tulloch who pocketed $850,000, Shivana Persaud who got $650,000, Komal Singh who won $500,000; Damion Cunje collected $450,000, and Dhanraj Drepaul of # 47 Village Springlands, Corentyne who collected $350,000.
Ramcharran Danpaul of Lusignan, Andrea Hunte of West Bank Demerara, Bonita Tinnis, Adrian Albert, Forbes Christian, Zaheer Razack, Bibi Khirool, Dharad Madoo, Fizal Mohamed and Steve Ninvalle each got $250,000.
GTT also took the opportunity to extend best wishes to the winners and to all its customers and promised to continue to do more in 2016.
