Andrew Hicks of District six Corentyne turned in an outstanding performance to capture the 3000m boys Open when the National Schools Cycling Championship 2015 continued yesterday at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Hicks won the race comfortably ahead of Christopher Griffith of District 11 North Georgetown and Stephanoel Richards of District five West Coast Berbice in that order.
De Silva of District four East Coast Demerara captured the girls’ equivalent, while Tyiana Garnett of District six Corentyne placed second and Tieanna Barker of District 12 East Georgetown third.
The 3000m boys U16 race was taken by Casey Abrams of District five; Ronaldo Narine of District 13 South Georgetown took the runner up spot, while Carim Chase of District seven Bartica placed third.
Cleavland Mars of District five captured the 3000m boys U14 title, while Mark David of District 12 placed second followed by Cleavon Murray of District seven.
Chelcia Sanchara of District 10 Upper Demerara/Kwakwani carted off the 400m girls U14; Vanessa Desouza of District six finished second and Cristal Richmond of District four East Coast Demerara third.
Also among the gold medal winners were Andriska Mickle of District 11 who won the girls 400m open; Deance Welch of District six placed second and Tatyanna Blair of District 15 New Amsterdam third. Whitney Poyer of District six copped the girls 400m U16 title ahead of Tia Henry of District 12 and B’ Yonka Barker of District 10.
