Preparations are nearing completion for the hosting of the second Essequibo knockout football tournament on Saturday at the Charity ground.
Sixteen teams are expected to participate. Among them are: Mourca, Region One, Wakapoa, Mainstay, Queenstown, Devonshire Castle, Henrietta, Supenaam, Barama, All Stars Bartica and Super eleven. First prize is $100,000 and trophy, second prize $50,000 and trophy.
Promoter, Vishnu of “Lil Indian” Promotions, said football, which is gradually catching on the Essequibo Coast (Pomeroon/Supenaam), is a sport that is intended to promote such as to keep the young ones from engaging in drugs and other harmful practices.
Each game will run for twenty minutes with a half of ten minutes.
Stag beer and through its distributors Ansa Mcal is one of the sponsors. Vishnu would also like to thank the Commander and ranks of “G” Division Police, Kevin Adonis and especially members of the Charity NDC.
