Over $10M up for grabs
After being successfully staged last year the organizer of the Guyana Cup Rematch horserace meet will be hosting the activity again this year.
The event which is set for Sunday 20th December at the Port Mourant Turf Club is organised by the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing Stables which is one of Guyana’s leading horseracing Establishments and Auto dealership in collaboration with the Port Mourant Turf Club.
Suitably named Guyana Cup rematch the event is expected to see the top horses that featured in the last Guyana Cup horserace meet earlier during the year.
Eight top of the line races are carded for the day with a number of feature events on the programme. There are events for A class horses, one for horses classified E1, 4-year-old West Indies, 2-year-old American bred animals, another for three-year-old horses and two events for two year old horses. There are also top class races for horses classified E and lower, G and H1 are also big draw cards along with the J1 and lower race.
The full list of events are -The feature event is for animals classified A1 and lower which has a whopping $1.2M available for the winner from a sumptuous $3M prize package and trophy over 1800M.
The event for E1 and 4 year old West Indies and 2year old American bred horses over 1200M with a first prize of $800,000 and trophy.
In the Co-feature 1600M event for 3 years old horses, bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies, the organizers have put up $600,000 and trophy for the winner.
The Two year old event for West Indies Bred horses has its first prize tagged at $400,000 and trophy over 1500M.
The G1 and lower 1200M race fetches the winner $500,000 and trophy.
The two year old event for Guyana bred horses has a $300,000 price tag and trophy over 1000M.
The H1 and lower 1200M race has a winning pocket of $400,000 and trophy.
The animal in the J3 and lower 1200M contest will compete for the winning pocket of $250,000 and trophy.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organizers.
Entries are expected to be closed on Saturday 12th December.
The organisers have also have put together some interesting incentives for lucky patrons and participants that will be unveiled later. The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
