The Tourism Ministry in collaboration with entrepreneur, Ray Rahaman, and a number of large businesses in Georgetown, will be giving a huge Christmas treat to hundreds of children from the Houston/Agricola/Meadow
Bank community today.
According to the ministry yesterday, Banks DIH, DDL and Pritipaul Singh Investments have been contributing to the annual Christmas Tree light-up which was initiated in 2006 by the Rahaman family.
In 2007, the Tourism Department of the previous Ministry of Industry and Commerce began to contribute to the event and overtime was coordinating it.
In recent years, Giftland, China Trading and Candy Corner became major contributors of sweets, Santa hats, food and beverages.
This year, the event which heralds in the Christmas Season will be graced by President David Granger, who will switch the lights on the 30-foot tree.
Before that, the expected large gathering will be entertained by local artistes, including singers recorded on the recently launched Kross Kolor Christmas Album, saxophonist Roy Stewart, and the Classique Dancers.
