A fine half century by Imran Ramjohn guided Amar Shakti Cricket Club of Paramaribo, Suriname
to a seven-wicket victory over Floodlight XI in a T20 fixture played on Saturday night at Demerara Cricket Club.
Chasing 118, Amar Shakti CC reached their target in 12 overs as they ended on 119-3. Ramjohn shared in a second wicket stand of 59 with opener Bhaskar Yadram to set their team on course after their team lost an early wicket. The pair negotiated some tidy bowling before unleashing some lusty blows. Yadram struck five fours and one six before he went for 30, while Ramjohn slammed seven fours and three maximums in a top score of 66. Anil Beharry, Mahendra Nauth and Wayne Jones picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, Floodlight were made to work hard for their runs as Shaw (only name) and Yadram maintained a decent length. Rabindra Singh top scored with 17, Yunnis Yusuf made 14, while Beharry, Rakesh Arjune and Jones contributed 10 each. Shaw finished with 3-35 and Yadram 2-20.
Ramjohn received the man of the match and best batsman awards, Shaw took the best bowler accolade while Yadram was given the prize for the most outstanding catch.
