Old people got a saying-Dance a battam look ah top. Is a nice saying that is also a message.
De pay rise that de Ministers and all dem MPs gun get is something to dance about. But dem got to look at who else got to get a pay rise. Nuff of dem ordinary people talking bout how dem didn’t vote fuh that.
Dem want to know if dem can’t dance too. Dem ain’t hearing de music and dem want Soulja Bai to create de dance hall and provide de music. De river man, Jordan, got to fetch de water and he got a big basket name de Budget. People want he to provide dem wid something fuh dance about.
Jagdeo was a smart man. He use to give de people a li’l radio to play when is Christmas time. River Man got to do de same thing and he can’t tell de people that dem get something de other day.
This is wheh de fun deh because although he give de public servants a small piece he got to mek up he mind to give dem something more because he done get he own.
That is how people stay. He can’t tell dem that Cheddi did do de same thing when he get into power because nuff of de people today don’t even remember wha Cheddi look like.
Of course, dem boys remember when Cheddi was smart to give he Ministers a pay rise couple months after he get in office but he didn’t got people looking to see wha he gun do. Then Jagdeo give dem couple more increase and still people didn’t pay attention because dem was too busy hustling. But River Man can’t tell dem people that because people did expect him to be different from Jagdeo.
Fuh sure, he can try a thing and give another five per cent at Christmas or he can wait fuh de budget but people done get spoil. Dem expect fuh dance at Christmas.
Of course he can go to Jagdeo and Babbie and all dem others and ask dem to chip in wid some of de money dem help demself to but he done know that dem ain’t gun give he one cent. Suh is to de Treasury fuh Christmas and to de Budget next year.
Talk half and watch wah de River Man gun do.
Listen to the man that is throwing Guyanese bright future away
