It was back to back wins for Raynauth ‘Obeah Man’ Jeffrey when he stormed to victory in the fourth annual Kadir Memorial 80-mile Cycle Road Race to add to the 11th Hand in Hand feature race which he won on Saturday in the National Park.
It was no easy riding for the seasoned Team Coco’s cyclist as he had to also battle, like the other competitors, the sweltering heat. In the end, Jeffrey out gunned his counterparts to win the grueling battle in Three Hours 12 Minutes 28 Seconds.
Having to settle for the other top seven positions in the Open category were, Alanzo Greaves (Roriama Bikers Club), Raul Leal (Team Gillette Evolution), Andrew Hicks (Trojan Cycle Club), Hamza Eastman (Team Coco’s), Michael Anthony (Team Gillette Evolution), Jamal John (Team Coco’s) and Orville Hinds (Team Gillette Revolution).
Hicks was also the top junior rider, a category which he won from John with Raphael Leung third. Ruling the roost in the juvenile class was Deeraj Garbarran followed by Briton John and Nigel Duguid.
Guyana Cycling Federation president Horace Burrowes was the leading Under-45 veteran he crossed the line ahead of the returning Raymond Newton and Ralph Williams. Ian ‘Deaf Boy’ Jackson was the top Over-45 veteran with Shameer Baksh and Kennard Lovell, second and third respectively.
