General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C), Clement Rohee, yesterday held a press conference at which he was faced with questions he just could not answer.
The former Home Affairs Minister read three statements, and spoke extensively on other issues, but when faced with questions on Bharrat Jagdeo’s accumulated wealth, he became stumped.
On numerous occasions, Jagdeo, who is now the Opposition leader, promised the nation that he would have divulged information about his source of funding for his seaside mansion; but never did.
However, recently Jagdeo renewed his vows to the cause of transparency and accountability. He told the nation that he will be the watchdog of corruption.
Rohee was asked, if on that basis, Jagdeo and others in the PPP alike are likely to come clean and answer all the question the nation has on their wealth.
He said, “You have to ask Jagdeo;, he spoke about this before, but Stabroek News (he meant Kaieteur News) don’t want to drop this issue…I cannot speak for Jagdeo or any other Minister, I can speak about myself.”
