Albion Community Centre, Young Warriors, Port Mourant, Police and Blairmont Community Centre have joined Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets as teams advancing to the second round of the Berbice Bridge Company first division 50-over knock-out cricket competition in Berbice.
Jonathan Foo slammed and unbeaten 61 (6×4 2×6) to lead Albion Community Centre to a comfortable 7-wicket victory over Edinburgh. Foo and Guyana Under-17 batsman Adrian Sukhwa (36) added 75 for the second wicket.
Winning even more comfortably was Port Mourant; bowling first Loyydel Lewis (4 for 11) and medium pacer Avishkar Sewkarran with 4 for 18 from 7 overs each knocked over Skeldon Community Centre for 91. Lewis came back with the bat to score 42* to lead them to a 9-wicket win.
Young Warriors did well, exploiting home advantage on a pitch that had preparation moisture to bowl out Tucber Park for 90; medium pacer Vishal Mohabir picked up 3 for 28 from 10 consecutive overs.
In response, Young Warriors had slipped to 33 for 3 before former Berbice batsmen Maxie De Jonge (40*) steered them home. Berbice off-spsinner Krishnadat Ramoo took 4-14 from 7 overs to help West Berbice restrict Police to 133.
But with their off-spinner Kwesi Mickle taking 3-18 from 5 overs and medium pacer Michael Campbell 3-21 from 7, Police rebounded to bowl out West Berbice for 87. Blairmont Community Centre for their part advanced after Bush Lot Rising Star had to withdraw from their first round match.

At Cumberland – Young Warriors got past Tucber Park by 6 wickets. Tucber Park 90 in 72.4 overs; Devon Clements 25, Visha; Mohabir 3-28, Kevin Ramdeen 2-15 from 1.4 overs, Suresh Dhanai 2-19 from 5 overs. Young Warriors 95-4 in 28.2 overs; Maxie De Jonge 40*, Kevin Ramdeen 24.
At Edinburgh – Police beat West Berbice by 46 runs. Police 133 all out in 31 overs; Martin Singh 44, Clifton Lindee 23, Krishnadat Ramoo 4-14. West Berbice 87 in 23 overs; Kwesi Mickle 3-18, Michael Campbell 3-21.
Matches will continue on Saturday when Young Warriors and Police clash at Cumberland while on Sunday, Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets play Port Mourant at Rose Hall Town; Albion Community Centre will be at home to Blairmont Community Centre.
