– to address backlog
The newly appointed National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) held its first meeting on Friday. The new members of the NPTAB as published in the August 13, 2015 edition of the Official Gazette are: Mr. Berkley Wickham – Chairman; Mr. Lavern Lawrence – Vice Chairman; Mr. Trevor Baird – Member; Mr. Bernard Lord – Member; Mr. Ron Rahaman – Member; Ms. Lauren Grant – Williams – Member.
The new board is supported by an operational staff headed by Chief Executive Office, Donald De Clou and nine officers. During the inaugural meeting held in the Boardroom of the Ministry of Finance, Board Chairman, Berkley Wickham, said that the Board recognizes that there are challenges in dealing with the current workload but remains optimistic that it will be able deliver.
This inaugural meeting was held to address the backlog of matters awaiting NPTAB’s approval.
The Board intends to use the best practices methodology to achieve transparency and accountability by promoting competition, providing fair and equitable treatment, promoting integrity and improving public confidence in the public procurement process. (GINA)
