The CAREBACO (Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation) International Under-19 Championship in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic came to an end for the Guyanese Player Narayan Ramdhani in the Quarter Finals on Saturday last in a long tiring and frustrating three setter where Angel Marinez Ulloa of Dominican Republic won the first game at 21:18. Narayan then came back strong in the second game winning at 18-21. The third game saw Narayan in the lead at 20-16 and due to four questionable line calls in favour of the DR player Narayan lost the game and Match at 23-21.
A report was made to the Chief Umpire and Tournament Director about the issue and an investigation was done resulting with the Umpire being disciplined and restricted from umpiring for the rest of the tournament.
The Under-19 CAREBACO Team tournament started yesterday day with Guyana in Group B with Puerto Rico, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago. Group A consists of Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Suriname & Panama.
Guyana were to first play Barbados.
The Team tournament will be a good warm up for the Guyanese players to prepare for the CAREBACO Individual Championships which start on August 27th.
