A Cuban national was shot in the chest and robbed of $9,000 at around 13.25 hrs in Regent Street.
According to reports, Mirko Cardenos, 35, and another Cuban national were in the vicinity of Acme Photo Studio in Regent Street, when a gold coloured Toyota stopped near them. Two men exited and approached the Cubans.
According to sources, one of the men then shot Cardenos before robbing him and his companion. The bandits who were described to be in their early twenties, fled in their vehicle, which was driven by a third man.
Persons who had witnessed the robbery reportedly made several 911 calls, which went unanswered. Eventually, some civilians put the wounded man in a vehicle which took him to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
It is believed that the attack may have been recorded on surveillance cameras that are located near the scene of the attack.
And around 15.30hrs yesterday, Ganesh Henry, 30, of Haruni Creek, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, was involved in an argument with another man at Haruni during which he was shot to his chest and abdomen. He has been admitted to hospital.
