If there is any motor racing fan who is experiencing any doubt about whether the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club August 9 ‘National Race of Champions’ Meet will be exciting then the mere confirmation of the father and son duo of Kevin and Kristian Jeffrey should erase those uncertainties.
Both Kevin and Kristian have confirmed their participation according to a release from the Club and fans could be assured that they’ve consented to race hard against each other and any other competition taking to the starting grid as they battle for a place on the national team to travel to Barbados for the third leg of the Caribbean Motor racing Championship, at Bushy Park.
The Jeffrey’s, always a draw card, especially Kristian, who is the current Caribbean champion and joint leader in the 2015 Championship, will have to contend with the likes of Rupie Shewjattan, Vishok Persaud among others to gain the selectors nod for the showdown against the rest of the Region.
Kristian, who drives a Mitsubishi Evolution VIII has been in sparkling form for the past two years, winning against the best in the Caribbean and even became the youngest champion of the Series last year and he should be favoured to upstage his more experienced father Kevin.
However, Kevin has been known to produce some daredevil drives and counting him out might be a bit premature and reckless.
Kevin drives a Mitsubishi Evolution VII, but is known to have done some amount of modification to the machine to increase its speed and reliability to compete against the best in the Caribbean.
Kristian though has been campaigning in Canada and word is that he has gained a lot of experience and knowledge about racing cars and reading circuits and that combined will definitely make him more formidable than before.
Whatever the outcome, fans will be in for a treat come August 9 so be early and occupy an advantageous spot to witness the rivalry unfolds.
Admission is $1000 for adults and children under 12 $500.
