The Anna Catherina Islamic Complex (ACIC) hosted a free medical outreach programme yesterday at the Complex, for residents of the West Coast Community.
According to the organizer, Rajiv Singh, the medical outreach attracted over 200 residents from the community who benefited from outpatient services provided by various organizations.
These included free blood, sugar, glucose and urine testing, and free medication. There was also a blood drive which received several units of blood that will be donated to the blood bank.
Being the first outreach hosted for the year, Singh said that the initiative has significantly impacted the lives of residents who cannot afford or access quality health care.
He pointed out that the outreach will be an ongoing project which will allow residents to access free medical services.
In addition, to the medical services residents and business persons were allowed to sample products from various companies such as Distribution Services Limited (DSL), Smart Aid 24-Hour Pharmacy and Massey Distribution.
R&T Imports provided free baby products that were distributed to the residents, while Meditron conducted the various tests.
There was a voluntary team of nine doctors drawn from various hospitals across the country. Working along with them were nurses and assistants.
This medical outreach was organized by Mr. Rajiv Singh of Smart Aid Pharmacy; Public Relations Officer (PRO) of ACIC Reaz Hussain; and Mr. Hakeem Khan, President of the ACIC.
It also received overwhelming support from Region Three, Health Officer, Shawn Gonsalves; Commander of Police ‘D’ Division, Stephen Mansell; and CEO of International Pharmaceutical Agency (IPA), Lloyd Singh.
Organizer Singh said that the President of the ACIC, had made a promise to President David Granger that he would continue to serve the community.

Singh said that he and his team are currently in the process of planning other activities. He said that the next activity on the list is to host the International Qaseeda Competition. This is expected to attract a vast amount of overseas visitors.
