Thirty-two-year-old Rawle Boyan, a Friendship Scheme Canal miner, lost his life Saturday evening after he attempted to urinate in the Pomeroon River.
A relative of the dead man said that Boyan, who worked in the Interior, came out on Friday. On Saturday Boyan and his brother left their Friendship Scheme Canal home for Charity where they were said to be imbibing.
The relative added that during his journey home Saturday evening, Boyan asked his brother to slow down his boat to allow him to urinate and in doing so, Boyan fell into the Pomeroon River where he subsequently drowned.
Reports of the incident were quickly filtered to the deceased’s family who orchestrated a desperate search for him.
Boyan’s body was eventually recovered and taken to the Suddie Funeral Parlour awaiting a post mortem examination.
Two years ago Boyan lost a brother who died in the interior. More recently another relative lost his life when his boat crashed into a tree. (Yannason Duncan)
