The Guyana Amateur Weightlifting Association (GAWA) in observance of Olympic Day 2015 held a school aged Developmental Championship on Sunday last where seven (7) youths braved the inclement weather to participate.
The athletes competed against each other in four weight categories and the results are as follows:
The young lifters received prizes which were donated by the Guyana Olympic Association GOA), former lifter and national referee Mr. Winston Bentham, Second Vice President Mr. Bertram Austin, B.E Fitness Gym Instructors Ms. Semonica Duke and Mr. Kurt Braithwaite.
All the participants were encouraged to take their training seriously and focus on the holistic development of their bodies as they continue training for the next GAWA competition, scheduled for the end of August next.
