Local distribution giants, Ansa McAl Limited, under its Smalta Brand, officially handed over its sponsorship of the National Youth and Junior Championships to the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) yesterday
during a simple ceremony.
Ansa McAl Public Relations Officer (PRO), Darshanie Yussuf, said that the company was once again happy to be supporting sport, as the AAG event will give athletes a platform to showcase their talents when it is held on June 20 at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora.
“I look forward to our athletes excelling and look forward to seeing greater things from them. I honestly hope that the athletes will make the best of this competition and that this is a stepping stone toward greater development for them,” she said.
AAG President, Aubrey Hutson thanked Ansa McAl for the contribution reiterating that Guyana has promising athletes. Hutson said that Guyana’s national senior champion is a youth from last weekend’s National Senior Championships at Leonora.
“These athletes are highly ranked at the senior level. We try to encourage the athletes by putting in some financial gains,” he said. Meanwhile, Coach of Guyana Defence Force, Robert Chisholm noted the importance of support from corporate giants like Ansa McAl.
