GASA Independence National Long Course C/ships…
On Sunday, day two at the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) Independence National Long Course
championships being held at the National Aquatic Centre, Lilliendaal, Hannibal Gaskin got turned the tables on Omar Adams by taking gold in the Boys 15-17 100m Butterfly and Freestyle races.
This was followed by the young and talented Lian Winter who struck gold three times in the Girls 9-10 age group by winning the 50m and 100m Breaststroke along with the 100m Freestyle.
Lian was all smiles when she was presented with the medals.
In the Girls 11-12 category, Jadyn George started her feat with the 400m Freestyle then took revenge on her twin sister Danielle by capturing Gold medals in the 100m Freestyle followed by 100m Breaststroke.
In the Boys 13-14 class, Antonio Hussein took gold medals in the 100m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly and 50m Breaststroke while Nathan Hackett captured the 100m Breaststroke Gold and Sam Clarke got the 200m Backstroke Gold.
In the Girls 13-14, Kenita Mahaica captured Gold in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke, her younger brother Paul Mahaica swimming in the 8 & Under age group was unstoppable as he took Gold in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle.
The Girls 8 & Under saw Aleka Persaud striking Gold again in the 50m breaststroke and 100m Freestyle. Leon ‘Golden Child’ Seaton captured the 50m and 100m Breaststroke plus the 100m Freestyle in the Boys 9-10 category.
Tommy Olaleye took Gold in the 11-12 Boys 100m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke while Sekhel Tzedeq got Gold in the 50m Breaststroke. Danielle George swimming in the Girls 11-12 division came out with Gold the 50m Breaststroke.
The Girls 15-17 age group saw Onika George taking the 100m Gold while Satyanand Ramlagan took Gold in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke.
Brittany van Lang swimming in the Girls 18 & Over captured Gold in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Breaststroke along with the 100m Freestyle where she clocked the fastest time swam by any female on the day proving she is still Guyana’s best female sprinter.
Also in the Boys 18 & Over, Andrew Flower struck Gold in the 100m Freestyle while Mario King took the 50m and 100m Breaststroke events. Swimming continued yesterday morning with the 800m and 200m Freestyle and 50m backstroke.
Tomorrow is the final day and will see competition in the Girls 18 & Over 400m Individual Medley and the Girls 13-14 1500m Freestyle.
