On Monday a 29-year-old man accused of shoplifting from Giftland Office Max appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a charge of simple larceny.
Royden Paddy of Lot 1 Backstreet Patentia, West Bank Demerara, denied the charge that alleged that on May 20 at Water Street, Georgetown, he stole a body spray, one pack Hanes boxer briefs and a slab of Cadbury chocolate, property of Giftland Office Max.
Paddy’s attorney, Paul Fung-a-Fat, told the court that his client returned the items after he came home the day and found the items in his bag.
Since Police Corporal Bharrat Mangru, had no objections to bail the defendant was granted self-bail.
The matter was transferred to Magistrate Annette Singh for June 17 for fixtures.
