Dear Editor,
Please allow me to extend my congratulations to the winners of the 2015 General elections APNU+AFC. It was indeed a long journey that many spend without rest and sacrifice their family time and resources. Many fought the fight with and a burning desire to see Change, while some would not accept the Change.
But this is Guyana and we have a new Government in place.
This fight was not only about sacrifice but mostly of wise, strong, quality and dynamic leadership that saw this Change. Many will say that voters had the biggest say, but for me leadership of quality is what makes this coalition happen and because of that strong and quality leadership, we see the dawn of a brand new day in Guyana.
Many, especially my Indian brothers and sisters, moved away from the AFC because on February 14, 2015 they joined hands for a better and brighter Guyana with the APNU. My Indo brothers and sisters was taught in the few weeks, that the AFC is no good and that they had joined hands with a party that is no good. My brothers and sisters tend to believe this race game and that is why they moved away from the AFC. While the majority stayed the course as they demanded change, thanks to all my AFC brothers and sisters for staying the course and making the change.
The AFC had hard times leading up to the coalition. We sat and thought hard as to what is best for Guyana and our people. We had to ask ourself, should our leader who put Guyana first and want this unity between APNU+AFC to happen look ashamed because of us not wanting the Coalition? It was a hard decision to make. At the end, the leader of the AFC who stands by his words at all times and always put Guyana first had asked one of the most selfless questions two minutes before the deadline to make the decision at our NEC meeting. The question was, Do you want to put the agenda of the AFC first or put Guyana First?
This selfless politician is Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan. He makes us all realize that Guyana “is we own” and we need the best for Guyana. He is unlike some politicians in the now opposition who thinks that Guyana belongs to them alone.
So a partnership for national unity between the APNU (which is made up of several parties) and AFC was the wisest thing that ever happened to Guyana.
