Jayden Charles, on Water Street, Georgetown, was released on $250,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
John,31, of 971 North Sophia, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on April 4, he drove a minibus in a manner dangerous to the public causing the death of Charles.
The defendant made his first court appearance on April, 8 and was not required to plead to the charge.
John was instructed to lodge his passport with the police. He was also ordered to report to the Brickdam Police Station every fortnight, commencing from May 1.
According to reports, John, who was the driver of minibus BPP 1702, had just pulled off after dropping off two passengers at Giftland Office Max, on Water Street, when he ran over the child.
After Charles was hit, the driver almost drove over the injured child’s body. It was only when a social worker raised an alarm that the driver picked up the child and took him to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he died while receiving treatment.
