A 22-year-old mechanic is now in custody as the authorities investigate the alleged abduction and raping of a 13 year old school girl from the Upper Corentyne area.
The 13-year-old girl, a student, was allegedly raped by a 20-year-old man after she allegedly ended up in a house with him at No. 77 Village on the Corentyne, on Saturday.
The girl, who lives with her grandmother, allegedly disappeared from the home and went to Cummings Koker where she met the suspect who took her to the house at No. 77 Village, Corentyne. There they were allegedly involved in sexual activities.
The following day, the girl’s father got word of where she was and travelled to the location and collected her. The matter was reported and the suspect was taken into custody and is being investigated.
The girl has since been taken for a medical examination.
