A fine half century by Trevor Benn backed by a fine spell of bowling by left arm
seamer Randolph Knights guided Headquarters to a 28-run victory over F Division when the Guyana Police Force Commissioner Inter- Division T20 tournament, sponsored by Anand Persaud Dental Clinic and Lab at Eccles, East Bank Demerara, commenced recently at the Police Sports Club, Eve Leary.
Benn slammed 62 (8×4,1×6) and Sheldon Agard got 27 as Headquarters amassed 159-8 in 20 overs, taking first knock. Kelvin Melville claimed 2-20 and T. Roberts 2-27.
F Division were bowled out for 131 in reply. Joseph Solomon got 29, Keith Jobe 28 and Dexter Solomon 27. Randolph Knights bagged 4-24.
G Division beat Officers by 52 runs. Batting first, G Division managed 189-6 in 20 overs. C. Roberts scored 33 (5×4), L. David made 27 and R. Ramnarine 26. R. Boodram claimed 4-50. Officers were bowled out for 137 in reply. Boodram cracked 27 and W. Wallace 20. Ramnarine took 2-43.
Felix Austin Police College (FAPC) overcame C Division by 66 runs. FAPC batted first and managed 160-4 off their reduced quota of 15 overs. Jason Mc Almont stroked 50; Rocky Hutson got 26 and Seon Daniels 25. C Division were sent packing for 94 in 11.5 overs. Hutson grabbed 4-20, Lyndon Wilson 3-11 and Daniels 2-10.
E Division went down to Tactical Service Unit by six wickets. E Division took first strike and mustered 99 all out with S. Fansette scoring 17 and R. Bristol 15. Ramrachan Roopchand snared 4-13 for TSU who responded with 103-4. Stephan Blacks made 27 not out, Edwin Burnette 17 and Royston Haynes 13. Fansette took 2-15.
A Division got the better of Headquarters by 52 runs. A Division batted first and scored 144 all out. Edison Williams led with 34, Kelvin Leitch made 29, Rawle Browne 21 and Trevor Benn 20. K. Ramcharran captured 3-34, Wilson 2-26 and Knights 2-29. Headquarters replied with 92-9 with Knights scoring 32. Darson La Rose and L. Leacock picked up three wickets each while Jason Heyliger had 2-20.
