Trinidad and Tobago’s Pro League side Central FC will be going all out for a win when they engage Suriname’s Inter Moengotapoe in the penultimate game of Group 1 in the Caribbean Football Union Club Championship
at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence today from 16:00hrs.
The Surinamese, having lost to host club Alpha United 3-0 on Wednesday will have an uphill battle against the leading Pro League team in the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Also known as the Sharks, Central FC says they will be looking to bite in Guyana and will be looking to make Inter Moengotapoe their first prey this afternoon.
According to the club’s spokesman, Kevin Jeffrey speaking on their official website, he said “Of course, any game at this level will have its challenges, but the team is confident of winning through to the final round.”
“Strangely, it will be harder to qualify for the final round than qualify for CONCACAF” said Jeffrey “In the final round you can lose a game and still qualify in the 3rd place play off, but in the group stage, a loss will almost certainly mean you will not progress.”
The club, which is based in California, USA trained yesterday morning at the GDF ground and in the afternoon, had a session at the Stadium. Every player in their line-up is from the Twin Island Republic.
Inter Moengotapoe will have to lift their game a few notches in order to turn back the challenge of Central FC which is just one win away from winning the TT Pro League. They face Alpha United in the final group game on Sunday.
Central F.C. squad: Jan-Michael Williams, Elton John, Kevon Villaroel, Akeem Benjamin, Leston Paul, Jason Marcano, Sean de Silva, Marvin Oliver, Darren Mitchell, Jamal Jack, Kaydion Gabriel, Keion Goodridge, Javon Sample, Marcelle Francois, Nathaniel Garcia, Willis Plaza, Ataullah Guerra and Dwight Quintero.
