At a simple presentation ceremony on the lawns of Olympic House on Main
Street yesterday, the Guyana Amateur Weightlifting Association (GAWA) received a donation of six weightlifting sets from the International weightlifting Federation (IWF).
Two of the sets of the Weightlifting equipment are for Children, two for Ladies and two for men and the President of the GAWA Frank Tucker said this donation is a timely one and will assist in the development drive to promote the Sport in Guyana.
Tucker thanked everyone who supports weightlifting locally, adding that the equipment costs US$12,000 and promised to put it into good use adding that the next competition should be held in June.
Also present yesterday presentation were GAWA’s first Vice-President Miss Subrina Pestano, General Secretary Seon Erskine, GOA President K Juman Yassin, GOA Secretary General Hector Edwards, GOA Vice President Karen Pilgrim, GAWA’s Aubrey Henry and Deon Nurse.
