Floodlights and Floodlights All Stars recorded victories against Corriverton
Market Vendors and Crabwood Creek/ Scotsborg respectively, while their female counterpart Trophy Stall Angels were not so lucky against Karibee Girls last Sunday at the Crabwood Creek Sports Complex.
In the first match, Floodlights scored a challenging 196 for 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs with Richard Persaud making 56, Greg DeFraca 40, Imtiaz Mohamed 41 not out and Ricky Deonarain 22no. Ravi Lutchman and Fabie Dan took two wickets each.
Corriverton responded strongly initially, scoring over 10 runs per over in the first 10, but were then checked with some good fielding, catching and bowling by the 2014 Guyana Softball Cup Masters Champion. Corriverton Market Vendors were eventually all out for 171 in 19.4 overs. Vishal topscored with 51, Ravi Lutchman 25 and Buie Ramo 26 being the principal scorers. Mike Singh, Wayne Jones, Richard Kellawan, Ramchand Ragbeer and Man of The Match Imtiaz Mohamed took 2 wickets a piece.
In the second match, CWC/Scotsborg batting first made 172 for 9 in their allotted 15 overs,
with skipper Popo Chalitar topscoring with 61 and J. Garnett 42. Richard Latiff and D. Parches took 2 wickets each, while Imtiaz Mohamed took 3. Floodlights All Stars blazed the trail, winning in 13 overs with only 2 wickets down. Man of the match, Lennox Marks top scored with 77not out, while Richard Latiff made 44.
In the female game, Karibee Girls were in early trouble losing some key wickets, but eventually reached a commanding 153 for 8 in their allotted 15 overs. Player of the match Katana Mentore made a brilliant 82 not out. Trophy Stall Angels lost skipper June Ogle early and fell short. They eventually made 147 for 9 when their 15 overs finished.
Spectators at Crabwood Creek were given a treat by the Floodlights teams. They won 22 prizes, which include Internet Tablets, DVD, groceries and pharmaceutical hampers, T-Shirts and Karibee Rice. There were also 50 giveaways of kites, umbrellas etc.
The Crabwood Creek Baba Grant Mandir also received a donation of $200,000 from The Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association.
