El Dorado will continue to be the “Official Spirit” and “Celebration Partner” of the Limacol Caribbean Premier League (LCPL) T20 tournament. This was disclosed yesterday at a joint press briefing held
at the Pegasus Hotel by both CPL and El Dorado.
Speaking at the ceremony, Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) Marketing Director Sharda Veeren-Chand in pledging El Dorado’s support to LCPL, said the cricket fans can once again celebrate with the world’s number one rum as they enjoy what has now grown into the biggest party in the sport. “This year we promise an even greater engagement with our fans and you can expect that there will be new and exciting opportunities to engage with the brand,” she added.
Veeren-Chand stated that they are happy to partner with LCPL once again adding that the feedback from the consumers has been great. She informed that two lucky fans will have an opportunity to win a trip to witness the final in Trinidad and Tobago and they are looking forward to an exciting tournament.
CPL also announced an increase in the number of games to be played in Guyana in 2015. LCPL Commercial Director Jamie Stewart said El Dorado has been a huge supporter of the league from even before the first ball was bowled. “They shared our vision for a uniquely Caribbean sports league that aims to captivate the world and it is with absolute pleasure that we welcome them again for this, the biggest year of LCPL yet,” he posited.
Stewart stated that they had good support from the people here adding that LCPL gained its momentum in Guyana from Limacol and El Dorado. “Cricket makes Caribbean people famous and it pleasing to know that LCPL has partner with the world best rum for this tournament yet again,” he said.
He affirmed that a number of leading players from around the world will take part in this years’ tournament including Pakistani Shahid Afridi and Sri Lanka’s Latish Malinga.
Guyana Amazon Warriors all-rounder Christopher Barnwell said that is it a pleasure to play in the tournament once again and he hopes to go one step further by winning the tournament this time around.
Guyana Amazon Warriors will open their campaign against Barbados Tridents on June 20 at Kensington Oval before travelling to St. Lucia for their fixture against the Zouks on June 26. They will then journey to St. Kitts to play the host on July 3 and 8 and Red Steel on July 4. The Warriors will then take on Tallawahs at Sabina Park on July 12 before returning home to play the said opponents on July 15 (18:00 hrs), Zouks on July 17 (20:00 hrs), Tridents on July 18 (16:00 hrs) and Red Steel on July 21 (18:00 hrs). The final will be played on July 26 in Trinidad and Tobago.
