A couple was ordered to attend counseling after they assaulted each other over a house key, when they appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh.
Andrea Davis and Charlie Cameron are accused of assaulting each other on February 25, at North Ruimveldt.
Cameron pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. However, Davis pleaded guilty to the charge and asked for the charge against Cameron to be dismissed.
The Prosecution’s facts stated that Davis had lost her house keys after attending a party on Republic Day. The woman ran into the defendant’s bedroom and requested that he hand over the house key. Cameron then told her that she should use the other key because he was late. The woman became annoyed, grabbed Cameron and refused to let go.
Cameron in defense pushed Davis and in retaliation, she slapped him and they had a scuffle. Cameron then ran out of the house and stood by the gate. At this point Davis picked up a piece of lumber and threw it at him, hitting him on his hand. Davis then fled the scene.
Cameron refused to gave evidence against Davis so the matter against her was dismissed. On the other hand, he was fined $10,000 for assaulting the woman. They were both bonded to be on good behaviour for six months, as failure to do so will result in one month imprisonment.
