The curtain came down Saturday night last on the Guyana Darts Association (GDA) Mashramani Classic at the Malteenoes Sports Club, Thomas Lands. Sudesh Fitzgerald and Rosetta Hiralall won the respective Men’s and Women’s Singles 501 in three straight games of the best of five sets.
Their respective opponents, Anil Lactchman and Mary Correia, threw competitive darts but the title holders were just too good. The respective 3rd places went to Ricardo Madhoo and Melissa Smartt, the duo got the better of Jamal Holligan and Shakuntalla Sewpersaud, 2-0 and 2-1, respectively. The respective singles events were sponsored by Apex Insurance Brokers and Peter Baker.
In the other results: Women Doubles 501 sponsored by Dudley Kirton – the pair of Melissa Smartt and Natisha Fordyce took the honors from the more favoured Rosetta Hiralall and Shakuntalla Sewpersaud, 3-2. The 3rd place went to Mary Correia and Jean DeSouza.
Men Doubles 501 sponsored by GUYOIL – Lallchand Rambharose and Anil Lachhman won from Sudesh Fitzgerald and Sanjay Bhupan, 3-0. The 3rd place went to Sherwyn Greene and Chris Fulton over Delon Correia & Nicholas Seetaram 2-0.
Two hundred and forty-six hundreds were scored overall in the various events; Sudesh Fitzgerald led the list with 62. Twenty one hundreds were scored by the women with Rosetta Hiralall scoring 11. The most 180s prize was won by Anil Lachhman, the only player to score two of them. One each was thrown by Lallchand Rambharose, Sudesh Fitzgeraldand Anthony Bissoondyal.
