The family of a 13-year-old Dolphin Secondary School student is desperately seeking the public’s intervention in locating the teenager, who is believed
to have intentionally abandoned her mother’s home following an issue at school.
Donna Lewis, the mother of Alliyah Lewis said that the young lady who hails from Lot 3 Laing Avenue, had left home with her eight year old niece to go to a community Masjid, but never returned. She said the niece reported that instead, Alliyah jumped into a minibus, but not before sending the child to tell her mother (Donna) that she loved her.
Lewis explained that recently the teenager had ended up in trouble at school and the teacher had to call in her parents. The teacher reportedly promised to call in Child Welfare Officers to address the problem. In the presence of the teacher, Lewis said she explained to her daughter that should the welfare get involved, she could be sent to a girls’ school, which the mother said she would consent to.
The mother believed that this may have scared her daughter who later ran away from home. She said she checked everywhere she would expect the teen to go, but came up empty handed. The niece reported that the missing young woman left with a pink bag with clothing.
When Alliyah left home she was wearing a flowered dress over blue jeans and a black kemar.
A report was made to the police and relatives are asking that anyone knowing the whereabouts of the child can contact the nearest police station or Donna on telephone numbers 223-4963, 622-7571, 696-2047, 619-3886.
