Long serving sponsor Farfan and Mendes of Urquhart Street, Georgetown has renewed sponsorship of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) Under-15 team for the 19th successive year.
The popular machinery store has been sponsoring the RHT Farfan and Mendes Under-15 team since 1997 and has described the relationship between the company and Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation as fruitful.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster at the simple presentation ceremony said that the RHTY&SC cherishes its outstanding relationship with Farfan and Mendes, while hailing the company’s input in the development of the club.
The team has won four Berbice tournaments and has produced players for Berbice and Guyana which includes Test player Assad Fudadin, West Indies ODI player Royston Crandon, West Indies Female star Shemaine Campbelle, Abdel Fudadin, Dominic Rikki, Shawn Pereira, Shevon Marks, Naresh Mahadeo, Eon Hooper, Jason Sinclair and Plaffina Millington among others.
Under the sponsorship, the club also won the Guyana Cricket Board, Club of the Year award in 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2010. Foster stated that 2015 would be a very special year as the club would be celebrating its Silver Jubilee anniversary.
Special mention was made of Mrs. June Mendes, Andrew Mendes, Onai Vasconcellos and Amanda Richards for their cooperation. It was pointed out that the company apart from sponsoring the team also co-sponsors the club’s annual awards ceremony, annual review magazine, educational programmes, charity programme, annual cricket academy and anti-drugs campaign.
He pledged that the team would continue to represent the Farfan and Mendes brand with pride, commitment and discipline. Marketing Manager of the company, Onai Vasconcellos congratulated the club on its Silver Jubilee achievement and noted that his company was pleased to be associated with the club that is widely regarded as the best youth and sport organisation in Guyana.
Kevlon Anderson would captain the team during the year with Junior Sinclair as his deputy.
