Scotiabank, New Amsterdam Branch is the latest sponsor to come on board with the Young Warriors Cricket Club annual fundraiser – Mash Cup – 2015 – The third edition. The presentation was done recently in the office by Mr Mohamed Azim, Business Banking Manager. Azim said that his bank is happy to be part of this fun filled event and as a resident of the Canje area, he got lots of positive feedback from the previous tournaments. He added that he is impressed with the facility when one takes into consideration what it was years ago.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the cricket club, senior coach Hubern Evans thanked Scotiabank for their kind gesture and promised that the bank will receive good mileage and the tournament will be done in a professional and transparent manner.
Proceeds from the event will go towards replacing the stolen covers, further development of the venue and the day to day running of the club.
The tournament will be played on Monday 23rd of February, 2015, a national holiday and will involve eleven second division teams from the No 19/Canje area. It will be of five overs affair with incentives of over $150,000 to be won. Gate prizes for the fans will be up for grabs too. The club is encouraging cricket fans to come and support this worthy cause.
