Ranks from the Golden Grove Police Station are being commended for literally tracking down three firearms that burglars had stolen from a Section ‘A’, Diamond, East Bank Demerara businessman, after breaking into his home.
Police sources said that the thieves, who were not apprehended, broke into the businessman’s house via a kitchen window on Monday night, when no one was at home. They then made off with some $3.4M in gold and diamond jewellery; a pump-action shotgun, a Remington rifle, a double-barrel shotgun and electrical appliances.
Kaieteur News understands that ranks who visited the scene observed footprints leading from the businessman’s premises to a nearby empty lot. The policemen then found the stolen firearms in a clump of bushes.
Police hope that several fingerprints that they recovered from the scene will lead them to the culprits.
