The curtains were brought down on the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) Diamond Jubilee celebrations with the presentation of a special Diamond Jubilee
Souvenir Magazine by the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club and the Guyana Entertainment Magazine (GEM) to the Board on Friday last.
The magazine which was produced by Mr. Simeon Corbin of GEM was coordinated by RHTY&SC Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster who was also the Chairman of the BCB Silver Jubilee Anniversary Committee.
The 36 page full colored magazine would be distributed free of cost to stakeholders of Berbice cricket. Foster disclosed that the magazine was printed in Trinidad and Tobago by Corbin Media Group Inc. and is of the highest standard.
The former chairman of the BCB Special Events Committee who recently stepped down, expressed gratitude to Corbin and GEM Magazine for their cooperation and also to all the companies who invested in the magazine especially Republic Bank, A. Ally and Sons, Guyana Power and Light, Bank of Nova Scotia, Gizmos and Gadgets, Agri Parts, P & P Insurance Brokers, Ansa McAl, Ministry of Health Aids Office, GT&T and Survival Supermarket.
Among the programmes of the Diamond Jubilee celebration were Tribute to Heroes, Tribute to Retired Cricketers, establishment of mini libraries at six cricket clubs, Legends Dinner, honouring of Test Cricketers, unveiling of Rohan Kanhai portrait as Berbice greatest cricketer, Television Programme, Hall of Fame for Administrators, Essay Competition, Medical Outreach Programme, First Aid Clinic, Musical Evening, Countrywide cricket exhibition, Annual Awards Ceremony, Educational Awards Scheme and donations to numerous clubs.
BCB President Anil Beharry expressed gratitude to Foster, the RHTY&SC and Corbin Media Group for the production of the high quality magazine. The magazine, he stated would be a permanent souvenir for the Diamond Jubilee anniversary for fans of Berbice cricket.
He issued an appeal for everyone in Berbice cricket to work together so that the high standard of the past can be maintained in the future. Persons interested in obtaining a copy of the magazine can call 333 2375.
