A 37-year-old mechanic was granted $150,000 bail after he was charged for converting $1.3M entrusted to
him for purchases, to his own use.
Wayne Anderson of Lot 38 Lamaha Springs, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the charge of fraudulent conversion.
The court heard that during the month of April in 2012, at Bartica, Essequibo River, he was entrusted with the large sum of money by Rudolph Craig to purchase a pump and hydraulic turbine, but had converted the cash to his own use and benefit.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Bharrat Mangru presented no facts to the court and had no objections to bail being granted. The case was transferred and is set to be called at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court on January 15.
