Nathan Persaud XI defeated Sachin Persaud XI by 70 runs in a 15-over match played recently at Imam Bacchus ground, Affiance on the Essequibo Coast.
The game was organized to culminate a one week coaching clinic conducted by Forbes Daniels for junior cricketers.
Batting first Nathan Persaud XI scored 138-9 in 15 overs. Persaud stroked 66 and David Williams 15, Sachin Persaud claimed 2-3.
He then returned with the bat to top score for his team with 24 and got support from Mahendra Persaud 17; Jonathan Fernandes captured 2-8 and Govindra Gobin 1-14.
Coach Forbes Daniels stated that he was pleased with the commitment shown by the players during the camp. “The players showed the willingness to learn and they are not short of talent,” he added.
Participants were taught about the basics of the game including batting, bowling, fielding and wicketkeeping as well as game scenarios.
Daniels indicated that similar sessions will be held for the further development of the players and called on the business community for their support.
